Dover Artificial Lift’s Norris Polished Rods are custom engineered with cold-formed, fully rolled threads for improved strength and fatigue resistance. The cold-forming process reshapes the steel fibers so that they follow the contour of the thread. The result: improved corrosion resistance and reduced abrasion within the thread.
Polished rod bar and dimensions conform to API Specification 11B, latest edition, and AISI Steel Products Manual. Our polished rods are available in different metallurgies to accommodate different well environments.
- Alloy Steel. Polished rods made from AISI A-4140-M Chromium-Molybdenum Alloy Steel are hardened to increase their tolerance to corrosion and abrasion. They are designed for maximum fatigue resistance and improved performance in non-corrosive or inhibited corrosive fluids.
- Piston Steel. Our AISI C-1045-M carbon steel rods are designed for fatigue resistance in non-corrosive or effectively inhibited corrosive fluids. They can be used with all rod types.
- Sprayloy®. A hard nickel-chromium spray metal, Sprayloy is applied to outside diameter of carbon steel rods to increase their tolerance to corrosion and abrasion.
- Stainless steel. These Type 431 stainless steel rods have the best corrosion-tolerant properties of all Norris polished rods. The material has good toughness and excellent tensile and torque strength, and is ideally suited for progressing cavity pump applications.
